Pastor Dennis Smith

At the time of publishing of this page, Dennis Smith is serving as pastor the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church in New Haven, CT.

He has over 35 years of pastoral experience and is a Graduate of Andrews University Theological Seminary. He also studies public health at Loma Linda University, CA.

Dennis has a special interest in the biblical teaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In 1999, together with his wife Patty, he started studying and praying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Soon afterwards, they felt a new spiritual life was taking hold of them both, and almost immediately Dennis started writing about the things he was learning and experiencing. He has written a series of books on this topic (read an excerpt from his book The Baptism of The Holy Spirit on the topic of overcoming temptation).

We are pleased to offer you, in video format, a number of sermons he preached in 2006 and 2007. We hope they will lead you to experience the infilling with the Holy Spirit.

I began realizing that when I let the Holy Spirit in, it is not an end in itself. It is the essential beginning of my life's transformation. Transformation to what? Learning how to be obedient to Christ's (God's) will. What is God's will for me? To obey all of His commandments as contained in what we blood-Jews call the written Torah.

What laws does Torah contain that Jesus wants me to obey? Pastor Smith answers this very well, indeed. He talks about the various laws of health and happiness in the Bible. They are found in the first five books of the Law God, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, gave to Moses. Jesus often pointed His critics back to it by saying: "What sayeth the Law of Moses?" ("Law of Moses" was how the people in Jesus' day on earth referred to that Law.)

The Moral Law, as outlined in Exodus 20, Exodus 34, Leviticus 23, all contain the giving of the Covenant. Israel broke it. He, after Moses prostrated himself before an angry God, reiterated that same Law, but with the addition of His ordinances, Statutes and Judgements, which includes the Sabbath of the fourth Commandment, and all the other of what He called "My feasts." The animal sacrifices and priesthood were all forseen as coming to an end ("He shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease.").

A famous female modern-day prophet said, "In the time of the end every Divine institution is to be restored."This will be done "to repair the breach in the Law when the Sabbath was changed into Sunday." See Prophets and Kings, 100, 101, and 678. They "were established to guard the Ten Commandments." They are the Statutes and Judgements." How do today's SDA's see the prophecies of the female prophet? Council of Nicea, AD 325.
1888 GC didn't connect October 22, 1844 to the prophetic Day of Atonement yet to come. It was at Yom Kippur then.

With all your books "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" which would you say we should read 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. or does it matter? We (my husband & I) have raed SB & Waiting of God, SB & Abiding In Christ and now we are reading SB & the 1888 Message. Haven & I feel strongly about the 1888 message & what it brought to our church, but they rejected it, again, & again, & now for the past 3 or 4 years we are hearing about the message again & our conference leaders up in arms again & if you speek about it, they might what you run out of the church. BUT, the Lord must want this message to go to all the world since He keeps bringing it around again & again, as if He was looking for a people to believe it, totally. I would like to have you come & present a 5 day series at our church, I think it is greatly needed, but I'm not so sure our conf. pres. Moyer would let you speak. I pray that God will give you & your family a blessed Sabbath day.

Hi Dennis,

I hope you remember me from Alexander's gym. I was one of the trainers. I spoke with you often and felt we got a good repore. I am going to get married in May. I was wondering if you would do the honor of marrying me. I wasn't sure if you do offsite ceremonies. I will be calling you as well to speak with you personally. Then we can speak further in detail.
